As one might expect on boards.ie and the like, we get the predictable stuff.

As I said earlier, if you plan/design/build ghettos without social infrastructure (not just pubs, btw) you get the likes of what happened when the occasion presented itself.

Does nobody think that some of the carry on was because of boredom and frustration?

I know a lad who was set upon and bet at a Luas stop by similar bunch of scumbags for being unfortunate enough to be by himself. Bored and frustrated they probably were. You can use circumstances to explain but its no excuse for being a scumbag cretinous c%*t.

Absolutely, but maybe you can create those kinds of people, by creating ghettos, providing no social infrastructure, not offering good prospects for a job and a place to live, etc., etc.

Also if you have a practically ineffective policing and law system then you create a lawless ghettoisation of whole neighbourhoods, where being a solid citizen is a more of a hindrance to an individual than a help.

If you've a roof over your head and can walk through your neighbourhood without fear then you've three-quarters of the battle of being happy in life sorted.

Of course those involved in administering the legal system get fat on criminality. So they have little incentive to reduce it.
