    Summary
    Report into seven decades of abuse in Jersey has been published. Key points:
    --- More than 600 recommendations, eight key recommendation areas
    --- 'No doubt' of 'many instances' of abuse in Jersey's care system
    --- Services for children 'still not fully fit for purpose'
    --- Haut de la Garenne - where more than half of the alleged offences took place - 'should be demolished'

    STAFF criticised in the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry report who were still providing frontline States services were removed on Tuesday morning and disciplinary processes are starting, the Chief Minister has confirmed.

    In a statement in the States, Senator Ian Gorst reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the recommendations of the inquiry and thanked those who suffered abuse for coming forward and telling their stories.

    FORMER Chief Minister Frank Walker says he will stand by the decision to suspend ex-police chief Graham Power ‘forever and a day’ despite the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry’s criticism of the way it was handled.

    And Mr Walker, who served as Chief Minister from 2005 to 2008, says if he had his time again he would also still take steps to remove former Senator Stuart Syvret as Health Minister.

    Reminds one of the "Grace" affair in Ireland, but here there is no suggestion that any staff have been sanctioned. What does removed mean anyway ? Paid leave ?
