    We can relax.
That's Ivanka sitting in for the Da, beside Teresa May, at the G20. Shure, it'll be grand then.

"An image taken by Russia's G20 Sherpa Svetlana Lukash (@LanaLukash) has emerged which appears to show Ivanka Trump sitting in for US President Donald Trump at the G20 table as her father reportedly leaves for bilateral meetings."

A 100,000-ton message to the world...

America's twelfth nuclear-powered super carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) was commissioned into service yesterday. The $12.9 billion warship is the lead ship of a new class comprising ten ships which will eventually replace the Nimitz-class carriers.
Thus all which you call Sin, Destruction—in brief, Evil—that is my true element.

Meanwhile NATO is closely tracking Chinese warships underway in the Baltics for joint war games with Russia's Baltic Fleet... they will soon be joined by a nuclear-powered battle cruiser and a Typhoon-class ballistic missile submarine of the Northern Fleet.

Dmitry Donskoy – the world’s largest nuclear-powered submarine - crossing under the Great Belt Fixed Link (Denmark). The sub is sailing in surface position all the way, as "a show of force to Norway, Germany, Sweden, Poland and some other countries."

It has never felt jumpier to me since 1986, when the whole thing nearly blew. Far too many loose cannons around. Joint Russian / Chinese exercises of Europe is of course a response to the S. China sea manoevres and ongoing NATO exercises in the Eastern Europea -- https://www.ac.nato.int/archive/2017...ut-to-commence

Russia's summer wargames, named Zapad ("West") 2017, are set to kick off in September but are already setting off alarm bells across Europe.

Default Maidir Le: World War 3 - Not a Pretty Sight

Trump has said today that he will destroy North Korea if considered necessary and adds Venezuela into the US's current main military and economic targets.

    A crusade against socialism announced.

Crippling economic sanctions are being pushed forward, and China is under pressure to join in oil sanctions against N. Korea.

In other parts of his speech he:

    • said the US could "no longer be taken advantage of or enter one-sided deals"

    • said the crisis in Venezuela, which is led by a leftwing government hostile to the US, was "unacceptable" and the America could not "stand by and watch"

    • denounced socialism as an ideology, saying it had only brought "anguish and devastation and failure"

Washington has repeatedly warned North Korea over its weapons tests, which violate UN Security Council resolutions.
The crisis worsened last month when the North announced plans to test missiles around the US Pacific territory of Guam.
"If [the US] is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea," Mr Trump said.
The 2015 deal between Iran, the US and other world powers, including China and Russia, was designed to prevent Iran developing a nuclear weapon.
"Frankly, that deal is an embarrassment to the United States, and I don't think you've heard the last of it," Mr Trump told the General Assembly on Tuesday.
Iran's government, he said, was bent on "death and destruction", while its people wanted change.
"Other than the vast military power of the United States... Iran's people are what their leaders fear the most," he said.
Using almost biblical language, the American leader portrayed the world in terms of "decent nations" confronted with "rogue regimes".
"The scourge of our planet today is a small group of rogue regimes that violate every principle on which the United Nations is based," he said.

Even his harshest opponents in the US, myself included, agree that was not at all what Trump said, even if what he did say was unhelpful, and at other points larded with inaccuracies.

Your statement contains an element of truth, but is far from the whole truth.

I wonder if your ideological editorializing is much different from "alternative facts" and "fake news" beloved of the right.

Here, in pertinent part, is what he said, emphasis added.

The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea. Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime. The United States is ready, willing and able, but hopefully this will not be necessary. That’s what the United Nations is all about; that’s what the United Nations is for. Let’s see how they do.

What sort of impact would ''totally destroying North Korea'' have on innocent men, women and children?

Your question presupposes that NK should be allowed to provocatively fire missiles at will.......

Would likely save the lives of millions of innocent South Korean, Japanese, and maybe US men, women, and children, over and above those that would surely be lost.
