Just took a look at it, and the first thing to strike me was the extent to which company details aren't given. Irritating, and time wasting, as it is impossible to know if you are giving your details to a bunch of chancers.

The site seems to be in a "can't guarantee this will work but give it a lash" mode today.

It never ceases to amaze me over 1 year ago this platform was breaking the news on this failure and not one politiican or media followed up on this story which has a lot of legs that are very smelly
It is clear that the department where asked for ' gigs' by the new minister in advance of the last election and that the 'turning on of the site " was rushed notwithstanding the fact that all the relevant staff in social Welfare advised the Sec Gen and the Asst Sec Gen that the site was not ready.
It was quite simply never going to work as the wireframe and design was not ready.
Another factor in the rush to launch the site was a major aggressive disagreement between the assistant Director General of Solas and the Assistant Sec Gen of DSP the Solas guy ' turned off ' the old FAS site that DSP where using while they built the new one and this resulted in the rush to get the new site on airs DSP had no option
Furthermore there is huge concern that data supplied by both jobseekers and employers may have leaked from this new unsafe site as a result of the premature launch .
It is clear to me that the PAC need to get involved in this and ask the following questions.

Did Leo ask for an early launch of the site and was it rushed to accommodate him costing over 3.8 million ?

Are DSP aware of Data breaches and if so have they reported them.?

Why did Solas turn off the old site when it was told by DSP that the their new site was not ready ?

Why was an ICT start-up awarded such a significant contract .

What is the current role of the Assistant Sec General who was in charge of this fiasco? is this person shortlisted for the Sec General position in this Department ( interviews are taking place this week.
Maybe Catherine Murphy or Sean Fleming will ask these questions for us as the press certainly will not
It is clear for the posting on July 2016 that the information above is correct and there is more........

All this while hassling people ('activating them') to get off the Live Register.

Certainly needs to be looked into.

As to start - ups getting massive contracts - it is dangerous. They rarely deliver as they lack the experience and it is bad for them and worse for the client (us in this case). Start ups (because they have little else to do) often put a lot of time and effort into making their tender look glossy and impressive and also often underestimate overheads - with the project being consequently under resourced.

Has Leo actually made a success of anything? Genuine question.

Things like this can sometimes get lost on the site, perhaps it's time to fire up the PW blog again?

There was an absolutely moronic statement in the coverage where the contractor was putting more people on the job at no extra cost to fix the glitches that it had caused. And the DSP people thought this was wonderful.

All part of the neo-liberal agenda.

Thought that an important part of the neo-liberal agenda was that things worked?
