800 years of English oppression ... and they still have to go and do this.

Well, it has to be said, the better team on the day won the match. Remember, this is England's fourth consecutive final so they are no shabby outfit.

Just when you thought the bright orange-painted Niamh Horan couldn't possibly disappear any further up her own fundament, she surprises us all. So it seems it was we who were all wrong, and it was she that was all right. Horan, the Sunday Independent's journalistic equivalent of a dose of persistent diarrhea, is back again - snarling at her perceived nemesis, Una Mullally - and 'yanking the chains' of the rest of us. Or at least I think that's what she said; it's hard to tell over the noise of her self regard and fake suntan.

Apart from the fact that Horan clearly cannot differentiate between her elbow and the source of her ongoing dose of the runs, and entirely apart from the fact that she hasn't the wit or intelligence to put one over on a six-year old, she comes out with both guns blazing, firing in any and every direction except the one that actually matters: herself. Given that that her favourite subject is, in fact, herself - this comes as a bit of a surprise, even to an auld cynic like myself.

One would imagine at this stage that the Sunday Independent would finally hammer the final nails into her designer coffin, given the shame and hilarity she's brought their way, but one is sadly all too aware of the speed of the ever-increasing slide into rag-dom of that particular newspaper.

This will be the 8th Women's Rugby World Cup. Ireland are currently ranked 5th in the world but I believe that is an underestimation.

    Should be a great tournament.
