Default The utterings of Jim Allistar

Jim has just been confirmed Euro Candidate for the TUV.
He has form having been an MEP between 2004-9.

Quote.. Mr Allister said the TUV would fight the election on two "complimentary tracks".

He said he wanted to provide the electorate with better representation in Brussels and to allow them to give their verdict on the "dismal, pitiful performance of Stormont".

"We have shown what one determined voice can do. Be it in Belfast or Brussels, TUV is no shrinking violet. TUV delivers," he said in a statement.

He said he would be giving the electorate the opportunity to "pass their verdict" on a range of issues. unquote. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-26875366

A thread to record and debate his campaign.

Just a very short comment on Mr. Allister, he offers nothing for the future, indeed he has outlived his time by at least 50 years. He exists in a self imposed time-warp.

A row has erupted over an attempt to ban GAA tops at the University of Ulster. Face book is playing a part with some 7000 protesting at the idea of the ban.

And look who's in the thick of it..... Quote. A related online petition has attracted almost 3,000 signatures since the ban was suggested by TUV leader Jim Allister.

He has called for students to be barred from wearing the jerseys because he claimed that they were causing "a substantial chill factor for students" and "an intimidating atmosphere". unquote. http://www.u.tv/News/Row-over-campus...6-ffdcdb3a8d32

Sinn Fein say... Sinn Féin MLA Phil Flanagan has dismissed Mr Allister's comments as "absurd".

He said: "The university needs to promote diversity in sport and treat all codes with equal respect.

"The GAA is open to people from all traditions and ethnic backgrounds who take part and enjoy the many sporting and cultural events the GAA provides."

He added: "The GAA teams at UU have worn the university's colours with distinction the length and breadth of this country. Is Jim Allister seriously suggesting banning the university's players from wearing their tops on campus?"

Mr Allister responded by saying: "I wouldn't expect Mr Flanagan to care about how unionist students feel about the GAA. unquote.

    What are ye at Jim?

At the launch of it's election manifesto Jim Allistar says...

Quote. Sitting beneath a picture of a smiling Mr Robinson and Martin McGuinness, captioned "wipe the smile off their faces", Mr Allister said votes for his party will be taken as a "barometer" of unionist discontent.

He told reporters: "All exposure of pandering to Sinn Féin, such as the OTRs, the unearthing of secret deals with Sinn Féin, which point up the very fact that the Belfast Agreement and all it produced was a crude buy-off of IRA terrorism with continuing necessity to feed the concession meter, I think all of that resonates with people and what equally resonates is that vindicates what TUV has been saying for many many years."

As to his chances of success in the European election, he said he was "fighting to win" and claimed success would bring about "a political earthquake". unquote.
