Bailout exit does not mean end to austerity

The Irish people have been warned they will have to endure harsh budgets until 2020 as Taoiseach Enda Kenny took to the airwaves Sunday for an address on the ending of the international bailout program, administered in the wake of the banking collapse three years ago.

Then, the government had to ask the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, and the European Central Bank for funding after borrowing on the international bond markets became too expensive. Internationally, the exit from the program is seen as a major breakthrough, but the fact Ireland can now borrow again from these bond markets will have little positive impact on day-to-day life, experts have warned
