Adams was headline on RTÉ before being relegated to two sentences half way down the updated article

The IT doesn't mention Adams at all in the course of a very detailed 3(web) page report by Peter Murtagh.
Earlier, Mr Mandela’s body was the centre piece at Waterkloof military airport in Pretoria, for a send-off ceremony of prayers and eulogies, his coffin draped in the flag of the African National Congress at the centre of proceedings.Various groups, including one representing South Africa’s legal profession, took it in turns to stand guard of honour-like by the bier.
Several hundred people led by the chief mourner, Mr Mandela’s widowGraca Michel, other members of Mr Mandela’s family, and South Africa’s current president Jacob Zuma, were at the air base to see Mr Mandela off.

Sinn Fein making hay over it

It is sickening to see politicians who did nothing to oppose Apartheid, or whose parties supported it, trying to cash in on Mandela's reputation.

    Two random points -

    1. Mandela said, according to Irish Central, that he thought the IRA was wrong to give up its weapons

    2. One would wonder what SF thinks of the way the ANC is running SA, with its social division and poverty.

Sunday Independent is a bit like journalism's answer to fake sign language man.

Lots of frantic arm waving but incapable of saying anything useful.

And very occasionally makes sense by accident.

Mandela's death brings back memories of what a big and intense struggle there was for 30 years in South Africa. So many people put so much in to it, there were so many internal battles within the anti-apartheid movement. A lot of people didn't survive. It is really strange to me to see how all this seems to be being wrapped up in the idea of one man. It is at the same time irritating and deeply emotive. It should be a reminder mostly (in these driven-back days) that victories can be won, and that they will rarely be what we imagine they would be, and we should always be ready for there to be a next stage with new problems.

I was glad to be able to hear the eulogy of Ahmed Kathrada at Mandela's funeral today, a man who shared the Robben Island experience and the struggle . No rhetorical flourishes, no recourse to loaded words or phrases. Sincerity and genuine emotion without sentimentality. It was truly moving.

His short speech is here on the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation website.

A report has cleared Zuma of involvement in the scandal of the spending of some $25 million on his compound in Nkandla. Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi said he took full responsibility for the project.

Lindiwe Mazibuko Democratic Alliance (DA) parliamentary leader calls the report a massive cover-up.

The report classifies most of the spending as 'for security purposes'. The amphitheatre is described as a' retaining wall with steps' I particularly like how they dealt with the issue of the swimming pool:

"The "fire pool" is currently being used as a swimming pool but doubles up as a fire-fighting device, in case of emergency." Good one eh?
