If you consult the Geneva accords - Geneva Initiative you'll see they're proposing to build in a settlement already ceded by the Palestinians in land swaps.

Whether this accord will ever come to anything is another debate.

The Geneva Accord (Geneva Initiative) is a decade old and was never ratified by either the Israelis or Palestinians. All of the settlements are illegal under international law and building 799 new housing units on occupied territory is equally illegal. The principle is not land so much as the violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention which prohibits the transfer of population from an occupying country to occupied territories. At the 2000 Camp David and Taba talks, in exchange for keeping 3% of West Bank territory (containing 50% of the Israeli settlements) Israel would hand over a further 3% of territory from within pre-1967 Israel, to enable the Palestinians to argue that they had achieved the return of 100% of territories occupied since 1967. None of this was put into effect.

Our own Minister for the Interior and the Military is using Irish tax money to support these issues by stationing .
Irish soldiers as unpaid (by Israel)border guards for an expansionist Israel. That is an issue un-commented on by those opposed to Troika cuts in their opposition to fiscal rectitude. Given recent incidents on the Syrian side of the Golan heights I assume we will unfortunately see some young Irish men and/or women pay the ultimate price for our government's tacit and military support for Israeli expansionism.
