Apparently there's a cultural war being waged against them.....
Quote.. Orange Order leaders have condemned the Parades Commission and what they have called a cultural war by Irish republicans in Northern Ireland. unquote.

There's a video of a band playing ''the sash'' outside St. Patricks this morning....

Things have kicked off at Woodvale....
Quote.. Water cannon and baton rounds have been used in north Belfast after a sustained attack on police in the Woodvale area.

Police were enforcing a Parades Commission ban. At least two police officers and one civilian have been hurt.

The ruling stops Orange Order lodges from walking on a stretch of road in north Belfast that separates loyalist and nationalist communities. Trouble has also broken out on the Newtownards Road in east Belfast. unquote. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-23295307

The Orange Order has called off it's protests. Little wonder after last nights carry on. Nigel Dodds [DUP MLA and Orange man] was one of a number of people taken away in an ambulance after being struck on the head by a brick thrown by Loyalists, many of whom were drunk.

Cant wait for the big debate in Stormont on Tuesday, though, as i said earlier in the thread we wont see any kind of sensible debate to resolve these marching matters.

Karma. The injured man in that photo is Nigel Dodds, DUP MLA. He is as much to do with firing up tensions as any thug involved. It's one thing to call for calm after trouble flares but when the call went out well in advance for sensible and responsible leadership he could have called to voluntarily re-route the march.

In the aftermath of the violence he speaks of the inevitable consequence. If he has that kind of perception and foresight then as a community leader and parade participant he should have shown leadership and stayed the battle, one which the mob were never likely to win in the first place.

Out of interest, if any forum members come across the slightest soundbites from Unionist MLA's or Orange Order members in relation to recent events please post them ahead of Tuesdays Stormont debate.

    The PSNI Chief Constables response...
    Quote.. 'Emotive'
"But I think this morning (Saturday) some of the leadership within the Orange Order needs to reflect upon whether they provided the responsible leadership asked for by myself and by the party leaders," he said.

"Some of their language was emotive, having called thousands of people to protest, they had no plan and no control, and rather than being responsible, I think the word for that is reckless."

He said that on Friday night there had been more than 4,000 police officers on the streets and another 400 police officers would arrive from England, Wales and Scotland on Saturday.

"You can be assured, we will deploy the necessary resources to ensure peace is maintained and the rule of law upheld," he said. unquote. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-23299768

Violence being reported after white line protests in North and East Belfast.

Quote.. A PSNI spokesman says they are currently dealing with disorder in the Woodvale Road area of the city after loyalist crowds gathered on Saturday evening.

The police line is being pelted with stones, bottles and fireworks. Water cannon is being deployed.

It is understood a small group of masked youths are involved in the disturbances.

Meanwhile crowds have also gathered on Castlereagh Street in the east of the city.

Police are advising motorists to avoid both areas. unquote. http://www.u.tv/News/Police-attacked...f-826095607492

How do you choreograph a crisis?
Last nights disturbances in the Woodvale [Loyalist] area of North Belfast kicked off with a congregation of a crowd and early reports suggested they were intent on walking/marching past Ardoyne.
Enough to spark and maintain a heavy police presence in the area. Things turned recreational, educational and cultural as teenagers were deployed while the elder more learned gathering melted into the side streets.

A game to keep a massive amount Police resources tied up at a cost. We're talking pounds, shilling and pence here as Loyalists drag out this false ''crisis'' at least until Tuesdays big crisis meeting at a Stormont Assembly recall to debate the crisis.

I was'nt aware of any crisis until Nigel Dodds [DUP MLA] was chucked out of the House of Commons in England for basically calling Secretary of State for the 6 Counties ''a liar.''
What's missing from the whole fiasco is that Nigel travelled to England that morning to pressure Terresa Villiers [Sec of State] into overturning the Parade Commissions ruling on the return leg of the North Belfast parade past Ardoyne shop fronts.

What emergency legislation did Nigel Dodds and the DUP expect Villiers to envoke? Outside the mechanisms already in place Nigel must have envisaged armageddon.

Failing miserably, he and his party conjured a petition to have the 6 Counties Assembly recalled to debate the massive crisis. Only thing they [DUP] needed after that was an actual crisis. Violence was inevitable after the big wind-up.

As the DUP call for an end to violence i am reminded of their wind up pre Flag Fury. Personally, then as now i suspect Paramilitary Collusion with elected Unionists.

Anyway, there is a Loyalist protest continuing in North Belfast at Twaddell Avenue in the Ardoyne area.
A question arises when i recall recent media stating the Orange Order has called for an end to protests. Why are there so many people wearing Orange sashes in the news clip below from today? ... http://www.u.tv/News/Loyalist-protes...a-45012839e6a6

Quote Trouble broke out in the O'Neill Road area on Sunday evening. Police said there is a people carrier on fire in the area.

Officers have been tasked to the scene and motorists are advised to stay away.

A crowd has also gathered at The Square in Ballyclare and is blocking the road. unquote. http://www.u.tv/News/Public-disorder...1-22178d1c715a
