Just listening to Simon Hoggart from the Guardian on NPR. Said when she was Minister for Education, she discontinued the daily pint of milk for the kids. She became known as Mrs Thatcher the milk snatcher. A new one on me.

Now someone by the name of Scott Morgan has launched this e-petition:

"In keeping with the great lady's legacy, Margaret Thatcher's state funeral should be funded and managed by the private sector to offer the best value and choice for end users and other stakeholders. The undersigned believe that the legacy of the former PM deserves nothing less and that offering this unique opportunity is an ideal way to cut government expense and further prove the merits of liberalised economics Baroness Thatcher spearheaded."

This is a brilliant idea, and surely one even Thatcher will approve of. It can be a fitting tribute to her ideological legacy.
On a personal note, no I dont have one nice thing to say about her...

    Enda -

I was saddened to learn of the death this morning of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Mrs Thatcher was a formidable political leader who had a significant impact on British, European and world politics. During her eleven years as Prime Minister, she defined an era in British public life.
While her period of office came at a challenging time for British-Irish relations, when the violent conflict in Northern Ireland was at its peak, Mrs Thatcher signed the Anglo-Irish Agreement which laid the foundation for improved North-South cooperation and ultimately the Good Friday Agreement.
I extend my deepest sympathies to her family and the Prime Minister David Cameron.

I would say in many ways Enda attempts to model himself on Thatcher.

Much of the pleasure is taken out of this occasion by the realisation that Thatchers' political children are running the place.

Jean Luc Melenchon of the Front Gauche has commented "Margaret Thatcher is going to discover in hell what she did to the miners." http://www.leparisien.fr/politique/t...13-2708043.php
