    Default RNU New Years message

    RNU, New Years message, 2013

    Monday, 31 December 2012 15:09

RNU send New Year greetings to all comrades & supporters, to prisoners, Freedom fighters and indeed to all working class communities at home and abroad.

In 2012 we took the conscious decision to embrace Revolutionary Republicanism to its full extent, dedicating ourselves to ‘National Liberation, Socialism & International Solidarity’.

This was the correct decision, given that the enemies of Irish Freedom today include not only the occupation forces of the British State, but the International financial elite, the Business classes who today hold our country to ransom and force whole generations to face either a future of poverty or emigration, both shameful and avoidable prospects to consider at the beginning of the 21st century.

Given our size and age, RNU in 2012 proved themselves worthy activists in the struggle for true Irish Freedom & Socialism. Through struggle, loyalty and dedication we have matured into what promises to be a vibrant and worthy Revolutionary Republican organisation capable of changing our collective future for the better.

We salute our younger members in particular, who in 2012 dedicated many of their evenings to political education and recognise the contribution of many who campaigned and donated much needed funds for the POWs.

We commend our street activists who faced state oppression from both the PSNI and the Gardai, while carrying out their tasks as revolutionaries, raising awareness of National, Social and International issues related to our cause.

Particular tribute is reserved for our incarcerated comrades in Maghaberry prison, who along with fellow POWs fought a long and tough protest for their Human rights, as we stated at the start of the protest ‘you are the flower of the revolution, and we are very, very proud of you’.

The year ahead will throw up many hard tasks for Revolutionary Republicans; we are aware of this and are up for that fight. In the coming year we encourage those who declare their support for us to demonstrate that support and organise active Cumainn in their own areas.

RNU are determined to consolidate our Network and our cause, through further hard work, education and activism, based around solid ideological foundations as set out in our position paper ‘Standing outside the Peace Process’ and our soon to be released policy booklet, the core principals of ‘Revolutionary Republicanism’.

As always we call for real and meaningful Unity with like-minded groups, we are not naive enough to believe we will complete this struggle alone, and we wish all Republican groupings well in the year ahead.

To the Irish youth we reserve a special appeal, do not give into the politics of despair which tell you to leave Ireland in search of employment. We urge you to stay, stay and fight back with us. Help us to create a nation where the corruption which has consumed your communities is a thing of the past.

Together we can take back Ireland and work towards a country your children will be proud to call home.

2013 will be the year when the seeds of Revolutionary Republicanism are sown across Ireland; the results will come in time. And to that end we urge all activists and supporters to again go the extra mile.

On Behalf of the Ard Comhairle, Republican Network for Unity.

    Noticed this on their website.

With the "revolutionary left" in Ireland in the business of "opposing austerity" it is a delight to see republican socialists come up with a decent slogan. "Make the rich pay".
