Looks like he was talking to a journo from the ST this week and the recovery is progressing satisfactorily. Poor guy is suffering from 'change-of-food-syndrome'
Apart from that he feels he will be ready to talk to the public 'shortly'.

The poor fella, probably has not had enough time to work out the publishing rights, the serialisation, then the movie, personal appearances, perhaps the Oscar, he should really appoint Bertie as his agent, who has been through this himself, the family, the Westlife lads and knows Rupert.

McKeever spends 24 hours helping Gardai with inquiries.
Mr McGeever was arrested at Craughwell Garda station yesterday under section 4 of the 1984 Criminal Justice Act, and taken to Gort for questioning on suspicion of wasting Garda time.
Under section 12 of the 1976 Criminal Law Act, any person who is found guilty of "knowingly" making a false report or statement which causes Garda time to be "wastefully employed" can be fined up to €500 or imprisoned for 12 months or both on summary conviction. The offence carries a penalty on conviction on indictment of imprisonment for up to five years.
Sounds a bit unfair I would think. Lose five stone, grow long hair and a beard and disappear for five months in Leitrim?
I can see the self help book appearing any day now

Are you thinking that maybe not a whole lot of police time was spent on him?

    Mad stuff.
He came up with a plan to stage his kidnapping and his subsequent release to keep them off his back, sources said.

As well as giving him breathing space, one of his theories was that the people hounding him for cash would have to lay off him when he re-emerged from "captivity", because they risked becoming suspects in his supposed "abduction".

Mr McGeever claimed that he arranged to put his car – a Porsche – in storage and enlisted two people to drive him to a house in "a remote part of the West of Ireland" where he lived in self-imposed exile for eight months, a source said.

This guy will end up costing the State scarce monies, send him back to the sunshine with as little fuss as those lads passing through Shannon, they may even deliver him, if asked.

What a langer as they say on the Irish Riviera. Some kind of genius at play there alright. You are going to fake your own kidnap so you put your Porsche in storage.... just goes to show that you could be a developer and 'wealth creator' in Ireland during the Tiger years and be as thick as a plank.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

In many cases, it was a requirement. But it was also necessary to be a "connected", thick-as-a-plank "wealth creator".

In Court in Strokestown today, on charges of wasting Garda time.

Gardaí looking for 10,000 for bail.

Chances of him finding that are presumably slim.

They should check out the Authorities in Dubai and encourage them to forward an extradition warrant and send him on his way, right now he is ducking and diving.
