    Default Angola 1975

    The year of independence.

An interesting documentary on CIA involvement, how the South African Army invaded at the request of the USA (yes, apartheid South Africa) and how it was stopped in its tracks by Cuban troops.

To this day, the presidential guard of José Eduardo dos Santos (Africa's shining beacon of human rights) comprises two Cuban platoons.
Thus all which you call Sin, Destruction—in brief, Evil—that is my true element.

Have you a link for this Total as I find it very difficult to believe. It has been at least two decades since the MPLA disavowed socialism and Angola has been very friendly to the US since then. The Chinese are also in there in a big way. The ruling circle is awash with oil money and Dos Santos's daughter is reputedly the richest woman in Africa. I can't see what interest the Cubans would possibly have in providing protection to Dos Santos.

I know that the Cubans have doctors and teachers there but I'm sceptical about the military personnel.
