Yes, very sad, there are a lot of Irish who didn't die in the same medical situation; they took the boat to Liverpool; Mrs Halappanaver didn't even have that option, medical misadventure took her life. Hopefully Mr H's upcoming case will make the country move on; of course it won't happen in Inda's watch, or any other likely Taoiseach, except perhaps Mary Lou?

The HSE and Mr. Halappanavar and his late wife's family have reached a settlement, said by RTE to be a large one.

He is now living in America.

It is so sad to think of what they have lost.

There are other families who did not for their own good reasons speak out as loudly as the Halappanavar's, who definitely did a public service by making as much noise as they could.

The question is - have any of the recommended changes been followed through ?

Will non-Irish women still figure so highly in maternal deaths in future ?

I appreciate the hurt that he must still feel, but I had hoped he would go ahead with the case. We will never move on without some transpaeency in these cases.

Is it not in courts these days that on the steps they will reach a settlement and there is no admission of liablity from the party who committed breaches of the law?

Whatever went on behind closed doors, when the WHO has drugs on the list of substances that should be available in any hospital, then you know Ireland still has stone age health care thanks to catholic thinking theocrats in our health system...

Yesterday's vote to repeal the 8th amendment to the constitution has come about 5 years after Savita Hallapanavar died. Her parents and husband has asked that the new law should be called "Savita's Law".

Her husband is to be thanked for raising hell over his wife's awful and unneccessary death. A great relief that this change is passed.
