It might help to consider emotional intelligence in the context of maturity. Hopefully we're all a lot more emotionally intelligent now than when we were teenagers. Also when discussing emotional intelligence in groups of people like bankers etc, the job culture and income creates a change in the mindset of some people. Our emotional intelligence is enhanced and retarded at different stages of our lives by circumstances and maturity.

I've seen many nasty pieces of work mellow with age to become relatively nice people. The reverse is also true, we've all seen people who've turned selfish when they've gotten ahead in life and will now fght tooth and nail to keep their privileges.

Emotional Intelligence comes with maturity, both are paralell with one and other and being emotionally intelligent means being mature. Being mature tends to mean that we are fully developed emotionally and in control which a lot of other immature people are not. Corporate culture is driven by emotional intelligence not the other way around (or it could be chicken and egg). The nature of the job attracts these very people and their immaturity and ruthless nature ensures that the corporate culture perpetuates a cycle.

There is no one out there tuned into how the people are feeling, we are all good at griping and backsniping and begrudgery but do we really acknowledge how each other is feeling?
I would say that the treaty at least would be a considerable advancement on what we have now. You're being too judgmental on Collins et al. Collins still sent military aid up north even after 1921 and Tom Barry is cited on record in Kennith Griffith's book as stating Collins had unfinished business with the British and that he could see him taking them on again 5 years later. Your nonsensical summing up of our lack of diplomacy because of the IRA's activities is an out of context knock against republicanism. Jack Lynch marched ten thousand men up to Derry and he marched them down again.

The Irish don't lack intelligence, though maybe we could be more genuine in our emotions.

Im being too harsh on Republicanism ok I will freely admit tht was my mistake. There is an intelligence in Irish people but not the emotional intelligence. Call it a suppression of our emotions, call it a lack of direction we are emptionally immature in this country.
