The ULA facebook page indicates the SYRIZA speaker missed his flight earlier and the public meeting has been rearranged for 5pm tomorrow in the same venue(Wynne's Hotel in Dublin).
Maybe a mod would alter the title to meeting now on Sat 20th?

"Fascinating, watching the world act as though it still had a financial system. Using the toilet, when the pipes are gone." - some guy on twitter

Someone on the CLR wondered if the ULA had a team out changing the time and venue on a hourly basis. At this stage there seem to have been 4 different times announced over two days and two different venues.
It will be impossible for any ordinary member of the public to attend this event.

sometimes circumstances just ***** things up - this is one of them.
Clarification from ULA about poster for public meeting featuring Yiannis Stathas MP (Syriza) 23 October 2012
The United Left Alliance would like to unreservedly apologise to our comrades in Syriza and the KKE for the offence and confusion caused by the use of a doctored photo of a KKE protest on posters advertising a public meeting with Syriza MP Yiannis Stathas speaking on 19 October in Dublin. This utilisation of a doctored photo was a serious mistake that has understandably caused confusion and offence.
The ULA would like to clarify that this mistake is the responsibility of the ULA solely. Neither Yiannis Stathas nor any other members of Syriza saw the poster before the meeting took place.
In recognising this mistake, the ULA commits to ensure that such a mistake does not happen again. The ULA underlines its solidarity with the struggles of Greek working people against the savage austerity being imposed by the Troika and the Greek government.

KKE statement on the incident
Who is "Circumstances?" The same person who was responsible for having three different date changes for the last ULA conference, for calling off the ULA Summer School at a few days notice and for calling off the November ULA Conference without giving notice of it at all ?
Could it be that there is a saboteur at work ?

The statement is very vague. I wonder what kind of a mistake it was. Did someone's hand slip accidentally ? A graphic typo ? Or was it a political mistake ? If so, what were the politics of it ?This utilisation of a doctored photo was a serious mistake that has understandably caused confusion and offence.
It would appear to me to be rank and cynical political opportunism, which sought to wrap Syriza in clothes that were not its own.
Political hijacking of the work of other groups is a hall mark of the SWP.
It was ridiculous and also opportunist of the KKE to try to represent the poster as the work of Syriza when even a quick glance at the poster shows that the meeting as "organised" by the ULA.The ULA would like to clarify that this mistake is the responsibility of the ULA solely. Neither Yiannis Stathas nor any other members of Syriza saw the poster before the meeting took place.
In spite of all the messing around to avoid a conflict of time with the CAHWT meeting it seems that the two meetings overlapped and that there was a very small turnout for this interesting speaker. The Syriza speaker also expressed a wish, I understand, that there should be an open discussion session after he had finished speaking, instead of which a couple of unadvertised SP and SWP speakers took the floor and gave speeches.
It would be understandable if Syriza was pretty teed off with the whole performance.
Unless there is a change in its dominant political character, there will be endless "mistakes."In recognising this mistake, the ULA commits to ensure that such a mistake does not happen again.
