Default FAS/Solas EU claims may cost State a major fine

You guys may recall that the EU where carrying out an audit on claims made by FAS/sOLAS for EU Funding the issue was examined at the PAC in Dec 2011 ,at that stage the EU audit discover " issues " around the claims made by FAS and the state was facing a possible fine over this .The claims are for over 40 million euros .
FAS /Solas where asked to resubmit these claims and that they would be subject to a further investigation.
Word on the grape vine is that 3 senior managers in FAS/SOLAS have refused to sign off on these new applications because of major concerns that hey have with these new claims ,they have " kicked " the claims upstairs for sign off.
Remember that staff in the the current finance dept in FAS /Solas where disciplined by FAS Director General Paul oToole and then returned to that dept .
The issue here is that if there are any further issues with these claims the state will face a fine of 100 million euros

Where is McGuinness and Ross on this one

Default Maidir Le: FAS/Solas EU claims may cost State a major fine

I remember hearing that Fas had failed to apply for EU support in the last couple of years entirely because of the scrutiny that EU auditors were bringing to bear on certain prior applications.

Classic Irish maneouver- pull all the n'er do wells over into a newly branded organisation and hope it all goes away.

That Mazars report needs to be published and those who were defrauding not only the Irish exchequer but European funding need to be identified and hauled out of it by the ears.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

The issue here is the Pac and the C and AG investigated thie last year and never followed up if FAS/ Solas Finance Managers refused to sign off these claims there must be a big problem with them and if the EU are aware of this the State face a big fine and the loss of the claims themselves circa 34 million euro .

the funny thing here is that the C and AG was looking at this and issued no report as for PAC they will shout and roar when it hits the papers but do nothing until then
