Fair play to Gerry Mc Geough.
Doubt he got an answer to his questions though.

I'd have a few issues with Gerry McGeough, but this is priceless...

Adams eventually retreated from the face to face confrontation and was later seen being cuddled by Michelle Gildernew.

If only Cáthasaigh would go to mass he could have given us a personal account. As moss said, McG has some rum notions but giving him the high hat in his own patch ain't the way to get the votes.

If dreams were lightning, thunder was desire, this whole place would have burned down, a long time ago.

Last time I heard about him, Gerry McKeough was in jail. There's a thread here on it.

I don't think he was on remand.

He's out on bail. The charges still hang over him.

Haha was on the beer yesterday too so I haven't been talking to Gerry yet. I will have his version of events here later in a 'Political World' exclusive.

I've already spoken now to a number of people who witnessed the incident. It's not hard to find witnesses as most of the congregation saw what happened as they were exiting the church, walking to the carpark or getting the Sunday papers from the shop across the narrow street. Scores of people saw what happened; indeed Richard McAuley took photographs but it's unlikely the shinners will be publishing them.

I visited Gerry McGeough this evening and he gave me his account of the incident which has been verified by other parishoners with whom I have spoken.

Gerry focused on Adams who attempted to hide behind the abuse being hurled at McGeough from the shinner contingent present. Indeed Adams' security team attemtped to intimidate McGeough to 'move along' but he was unflinching in the face of the menacing and verbal abuse which was witnessed by the majority of the congregation.

By the time Gerry McGeough returned home he was already receiving texts and phone calls of support from the local area and beyond; within the hour he was phoned by both the Irish News and Daily Mirror. There has been a steady stream of messages and callers expressing support and kudos for standing up to Adams and not just from Republicans. There was already tension in Eglish after all of the SDLP posters were torn down immediately prior to the shinner posters going up.

It has been confirmed to me that Adams was rattled by the confrontation and Michelle Gildernew did hug him as Gerry McGeough was walking away.

Gerry McGeough is in high spirits and is glad to have had the opportunity to confront Adams and say what has been on the minds of many for some time. I wouldn't expect to see Adams haunting any more church gates during this electoral campaign lest others follow the example set by Gerry McGeough.

Tearing down stoops posters, what age are these eejits 12?, reminds me of the more sinister ripping down of posters put up by the Quinn Family in Crossmaglen
