15 minutes visit is ridiculous. The travel time will cost more than the visit.

The Sunday Times is reporting that Senator John Kelly and Eamon Gilmore of the Labour Party have cooked up a plan to put 30,000 unemployed people into Home Help work, via CE schemes, paying them an extra €25.00 a week above unemployment benefit.

Its slave labour again. A friend of mine went for the jobs through the private company that was running it but couldnt be guaranteed certain hours and was told that hours would be a half an hour here and there. Now put this in tandem with the home help workers that are going to be put on to this scheme and you are talking about no continuty what so ever, there should be one umbrella group to over see all the homehelps and they should be HSE employed. To boot if there is going to be 30,000 people what about background checks, the garda bureau in Tipp that deals with it has a huge back log as it stands, some of these people are going to be working with old people who are vunerable, everyone must be checked. Again Labour it has to be wondered floating the idea about perhaps to test the water??
