Yes Minister is on Netflix and elsewhere, great stuff. Some interesting bits on the RTÉplayer at moment.

All the President's Men always worth a watch too

A little delay in posting response to this one, the question had to gestate.

Here's 16 versions of Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, take your pick.

I like this list supplied by readers of a political blog on WaPo.

I DO NOT like this list of top 100 political films from IMDB

Shocked at the absence of Gaghan's Syriana.

A empathetic portrayal of a suicide bomber out of Hollywood.

    That's what I call operating.

Pretty much all science fiction films are political. Those I can think of from the black and white classic 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' (and its anti-doomsday theme from the 1950s nuclear arms race background) right up to Skynet & Arnold Schwarzenegger, the latter effort which seems to be prophetic about technology being used against citizens and a deep seated fear of the calculating machine turning on us.

I suppose any dystopic science fiction film has to have a political element to make it work as it has to slightly disturb the viewer and resonate with current social concerns and where it might all end up.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.
