As it is a country with around 450,000 people unemployed, undergoing an unprecedented contraction of GNP and with virtually no availability of business lending, I've started a thread to explore exactly what he means by this.
In essence, it seems that the priority is to facilitate "ease of doing business" for Foreign Direct Investment, and for carve up of national assets by FDI, non-resident oligarchs, and - the feeling is growing - resident cronies.

The Sunday Times said that not only FG colleagues but also "Labour Partners" were supportive of Noonan meeting with McManus, "a popular figure in Limerick and big contributor to charity."
Have we moved any distance from the Ahern-Cowen regime under which the financial industry itself was invited into the Dail to draft the regulations that would supposedly control it ?
