Default Ratzinger 'saddened' and 'angry' about invasion of his privacy atop Apostolic Palace : UPDATE Pope Benedict to Resign

A book reproducing the private correspondence of Pope Benedict XVI has angered the Vatican and forms part of a series of leaks revealing allegations of corruption and internal conflicts. He complained bitterly at his latest general audience about the international media's apparent fixation on the the arrest of his butler, dubbed 'The Vatileaks Crisis'. He claims their agenda is to distort the truth.

The Italian journalist at the center of the “Vatileaks” scandal has, Gianluigi Nuzzi, declined to identify any of his sources, aside from Paolo Gabriele. But he said that no cardinal furnished him with confidential documents. The Vatican 'moles' are called "corvi" or "crows" by the Italian Press.

The butler thing could have been hushed-up has the pope pardoned him instead of letting it go to trial. Some speculate that the pope wants more transparency these days.

Saw some smug arsehole of a priest wittering on on Saturday to Sky or someone about how this was all a 'parochial' matter.

Hmm. Some parish- and Cardinals infighting for influence and stabbing each other in the back has a lot to do with that 'parochial' matter.

    Bunch of bent chancers.

The two things he's not supposed to do and he's gone and done them both- become saddened and angry.

They don't make god's representatives on earth like they used to.

It seems extraordinary to me that "Vatican Police" have abducted this man in order to prevent him from blowing the whistle on Vatican Corruption.

Remembering that the Vatican State was a creation of Mussolini.

A bit like the British Royal Family?

They are perpetually plagued by potential leakages and petty theft. Brutal repression is their only option. They take staff to Court if they take a piece of sluts wool home with them from under the Queen's bed.

I would say poor Prince Phillip suffers from most leaks...
