The reign of the spineless establishment junkies continues. Sure it'll look good on her CV. No wonder UCD voted to leave.

A new president of the USI has been elected, Annie (Lisa) Hoey from Drogheda. Only one position on the officer board was contested. (!)

One thing that is very interesting about the last ten years is how little resistence student groups have levied against the imposition of austerity, despite that fact that it is young people who are among those most effected. In fact they even scaled back on activity, cancelling the most visible student activist event, the march against cuts. This has been because, IMO, those running the USI were wannabe politicians affiliated with pro austerity parties.

Hoey is running as a labour candidate in Meath in the upcoming local elections.
