    Default Is the government scaremongering?

First they came for the students and now they are coming for the unemmployed. The Dept of Welfare sent letters to people which insinuated that they must have paid the household charge

    http://www.thejournal.ie/social-welf...04031-Sep2012/

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Protection has moved to assure the public that it will not require social welfare recipients to offer proof of payment for the Household Charge before it issues benefits to welfare recipients.

The assurance comes after the Department had had written to customers suggesting that they bring proof of their payment for the €100 charge as a proof of address when registering their Public Services Card.
In a move seen as been a large PR Failure after they threatend the students are the govt trying to bully us? In an e mail to the SWP this afternoon the Dept told the SWP and the journal that we are mistaken, people can just use the household charge receipt as proof. A government should be afraid of its people and not the other way around...
They may crush the flowers, and trample every living thing but they cant stop the spring..

I love these kinds of stories, they just chip away at Govt support bit by bit regardless of whether they're true or not. The damage is done before you read past the headline.

This and the behaviour of Clare Co Council are the first few nails in this Govts coffin.

FG were always going to show themselves incapable of not acting like a Govt in a Police State, once there was any sign of Public resistance.

They totally misunderstood the reason for their massive vote in the last Gen Election and their arrogance since has been astonishing.

Fianna Fail hung onto government even when they couldn't find people to be ministers. It is still early in the life of this coalition and they will do the same.

Its more fuel to the fire but we really need them to scaremonger more to galvinise the people. Only when their backs are to the wall will they realise that there has to be a change

They pulled the wool over the eyes of the electorate.

They will definitely keep messing up like this. They can,t help themselves. They are only in it for themselves and without money, they can,t buy our compliance.

When they get desperate, as they are now, they are liable to do anything.

Hence the, "if you don,t pay your 100 euro household charge, we will stop you going to college and pay you a 100 euro week, social welfare, costing us 5k a year or we will stop you holding a job that requires a tax certificate, costing us 10k a year, plus benefits, like paying the interest on your mortgage, part of your fuel bill, your medical expences, school books etc"

The people of Ireland have already copped on, that our politicians are not the brightest.

I don,t think the IMF/EU have quite determined how bright the Irish people are yet.

They are only a couple of months away from enlightenment.

Enlightenment is coming down the line if anything juding by the amount of strikes that are being planned. People are copping on that we are not going to tolerate any more of these wankers imposing cuts on us and are going to certainly galvinise, its just a case of when. Regarding the scare mongering, its quite obvious all the scare mongering the government is doing is pushing people and Irish people dont like being oppressed as history shows us. Who will be the next group to be hit hard with cuts or threatened with cuts?

I have maintained from the start, that the Irish people will take far more pain than most, as long as they deem it to be for the overall good.

As soon as they come to believe, as a lot of us did from the start, that this is not for the overall good, but merely an attempt to maintain the status and position of a few thousand people who have managed to hijack the country and the vast majority of it,s wealth, they will take action and the action they take will be definite and ceaseless.
