Looks a fascinating programme - I didn't hear about it in time to go, but would very much have liked to.

I wonder if any of the papers are available?

What was said at the sessions that you went to ?

Yesterday Mick O'Rielly stole the show when regaled us with his exploits going for a swim on the Falls Road in Belfast. He said that he could not find a republican in Belfast who was in favour of a United Ireland. So long as were tied into the Euro ... a united Ireland was off the agenda for all Republicans in the six counties.

Today Terry McDonough was excellent .. gave a great power point presentation..... said we have two choices ...... fight for a purging of the debt at either national or at European level...... he said we can't do both at the same time .... it has to be one or the other ..... the actions to achieve one would be counter to the other. He said that in the long term .... we must leave the Euro.

Eugene gave us a very long lecture on the evils of capitalism. He didn't like my joke about the Bible, nomads and the writings of Marx.

Mary Lou dodged the question of the Euro ..in or out.

Desmond Fennell was most entertaining ...... and came dressed just like Mick Wallace. speaking about Irish identity . he said we had none ...... we had abandoned everything....... the language.... our Catholicism etc....... he said our National Symbol was the Spire in O'Connell Street ..... which symbolised nothing.

Next Year will be the 25th Summerschool ........ and the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Greaves... they are hoping to do it big.

The whole event was videoed and will be put on their website in the near future.

Sounds an interesting bunch ... although i must admit I will go like an Exocet for any man or woman who maintains 'catholicism' is intrinsically Irish. I'll leave that one there. Hate this historical inaccuracy and blatant propagandising.

Probably would not get along with the communists either except to offer them a bun like some kind of last remaining woolly mammoth. But it was an interesting line-up otherwise by the looks of it.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

This seems to be a fairly extreme claim. Do you think he meant it, and is right ?

Why not unite Ireland and take it out of the Euro ?

Thanks exactly what Roy Johnston said ........ and he got no objections from Mary Lou.

When did Roy Johnstone say that ?

I wouldn't be surprised by anyone in the Sinn Fein leadership having that view. The GFA arrangements were a major setback to the prospect of a United Ireland.
