    Default Hoy en la prensa...

    Today in the (Spanish) press.
In this thread I´d like to deal with some Spanish news stories which quite often will not appear in the English language press.
I´d like to update each day with links to the stories that dominate the Spanish headlines.
    Pro ejemplo.
    For example
    Viernes:
'The government will force the unemployed to clean up areas devastated by forest fires'
The story has provoked much anger and fear in the last few days.

Unemployed people who refuse to co operate may be sanctioned and could even lose their right to unemployment payments.

It looks like 'Eurovegas' is finally coming to Madrid. Them boys who run the Sands have finally whittled it down to who can promise the most crooked deals. The PP government party just about win out over Barcelona.

Nice one by the 71 one year old PP rep who was appointed on Monday to a mainly ceremonial post as the head of a body which is supposed to look after the rights of Spanish people who have emigrated:
which translates as "Laws are like women, they are there to be raped"
Speaking to El Pais on Tuesday after his resignation he said:
"Nobody asked for my resignation. I have a personal situation which means that I won't be able to deal with the job. That doesn't have anything to do with what happened but obviously it all adds up"

It seems he was at a routine meeting on his second day when 10 votes were needed to pass a motion.
"What, only nine? Stick in ten. Laws are like women...."
“No pasa nada. ¿Hay nueve votos? Poned diez…
