Why? So they can email Germany and ask for instructions?
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

Cuts for carers but the lads are getting their xmas iPads:
TDs were invited to apply for free iPads the day after the budget by Oireachtas authorities.

The contract to provide the state-of-the-art touchscreen tablets has been placed with Vodafone.

An email sent to the 166 deputies on Thursday urged them to contact the Information Communications Technology unit “immediately” so the Houses of the Oireachtas Service could establish how many devices to order.

“The specification of the devices is iPad with retina display and A6X processor, 32gb, WiFi, 3G. Please note the service will not supply Sim cards with the iPads,” the email said.

The iPad can retail at between €479 and €799, depending on capacity, while the recently unveiled iPad Mini costs from €275.

Finally, after a series of posts ignoring it, the Irish Times opens the discussion on the sheer bare-arsed arrogance of our Parliament and its members. You'd have thought that the "communications department" might have noticed the row(s) about the budget - maybe some of the Dail staff have handicapped relations - but no, they are so imbued with the f you attitude of our Parliament and parliamentarians they don't even notice what is going on outside....

I sent my three TDs an email straight away assuming they'll be refusing the offer, I'm not holding my breath for the replies.

I agree with all the comments regarding paper replacement On Wednesday you'll have noticed that EVERY TD (and they were all there, nearly) had a paper copy of the budget. The Japanese Cabinet has a screen per member, no paper issued, similar story elsewhere. It's just another joke for the country that calls itself the information society capital of Europe.

Oh, just realised that the savings on having to have vouched expenses will pay for it, that's ok then.
