Do RSF aligned prisoners hold sway on the Republican wing? That is, do they make up the majority numbers?

There is five of them.. all it takes is one group of prisoners to put a threat on other prisoner(s).. then the jail will move the prisoner(s) of the republican wing or not let them on for safety reasons so if one set of prisoners dont get on with another set they will put out threats

    Thanks for that feedback gt86.

It'll be a sad day for Republicanism and Humanity if these men die.

Nearing 40 days it's getting Biblical in proportion. ''Blessed are those who hunger for justice.'' [I read somewhere] Not likely the Vatican will be beating down the doors of Maghaberry.

Given the men are on protest - it is sad if as a hunger Strike continues talk is still a numbers game - which groups are on the landings, and the animosity between organisations.
The men are on Hunger Strike because they are embarked in a struggle and conflict between themselves and the prison regime. The 4 hunger strikers are not in a struggle or conflict with other republicans - they are in jail on remand and denied basic human rights that brings them to take this protest action.
The differences between factions is a separate issue completely from the demands of the hunger strikers and their conflict with the prison regime.

For information and link to Facebook group to support the four men from East Tyrone on hunger strike http://dublinrsf.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1
be aware of course as above link shows from Tyrone times the media and prison regime cannot be trusted to put out accurate information.

Ah but sure a collective statement from all Republicans represented on the Republican wing guaranteeing the safety of the men would reverse the situation which lead to the action/protest in the first place.

The prison regime are responsible under human rights treaties at European and international level to protect the right to life - so beyond the issue of landings and disputes outside between organisations - the prison regime are now the ones under obligation by law to intervene.
People have free will to choose to support the hunger strikers or not -

I don't and never did deny the right of anyone to ''free will.''

Any ''legally binding'' intervention by the prison regime won't see these men back on the Republican wing though.
Will the State have to create more space for separatist groups.

Some oozing from the POA today about the location of a new prison.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-19671668

Its not as easy as that there is another republican over in block for the past 17 months over so called threats on his life first by republicans when this was cleared up that there was no such threat from any republicans or groups the prison then said a new threat came in from loyalists...now bare in mind that republican and loyalist do not be near each other and have no contact at all anywhere in the jail.. This man is stuck over in the block away from everyone... the jail can do what they like on these men and get away with it

Yes you're right gt86, all too often there's a twisted screw or cop agenda going on in the shadows.

Issuing ''threats'' behind bars within prison between groups or individuals needs only take the words..''I can't guarantee that mans safety.'' It's not a threat as such but a statement of fact as no-ones safety can be guaranteed and the screws use the term often enough.

Upon commital to prison a police/special branch report follows you and the mix could be put in at that stage based on ''intelligence'' no-one else is likely to see.

    Wee games gt86.
