There is ample evidence that there is a split within the Labour and Fine Gael camps after comments from the parties on alternating sides of issues such as gay marriage, cuts to welfare and other assorted issues that were cropping up. However despite all this is there a divide within the Fine Gael party itself? The Cedar Lounge Revolution is reporting on statements by Brian Hayes (http://cedarlounge.wordpress.com/201...ll-fancy-that/) in which Fine Gael are more than a party of farmers but are also representing the PAYE workers too (no sniggering there !). This comment seemed to be contradicted however when there was further comments by Tom Hayes who took exception the means testing of farming assets and said
Back when there was a discussion of gay marriage , Gump would not be drawn on it when there was comments before by Eamon Gilmore as to if it would be introduced. Fine Gael decided at their annualBut he warned that rural Fine Gael TDs would not capitulate on the question of means-testing farming assets, describing it as “core” to the party.piss upArd Fheis that it would be a priority (http://www.irishexaminer.com/breakin...on-545759.html) . Are Lucinda and Gay Mitchell in support of these notions?
Is there any other evidence out there that there is a division in FG? I might get the twitter machine going and ask for their opinions but any other evidence welcome...
