    Default Princess Alice rocks

Just watched a mesmerising programme on More4 about Princess Alice of Battenberg, later Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark (Victoria Alice Elizabeth Julia Marie; 25 February 1885 – 5 December 1969), was the mother of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and mother-in-law of Queen Elizabeth II.

As an antidote to the Pose of Tralee it worked wonders.

It was interesting. She had some odd ideas but from what they said there was no reason to lock her in a sanatorium/asylum. Also gave an insight to Prince Philip. He must be the first royal to put his address as 'No Fixed Abode'! He followed her wishes though it must have taken some arm twisting to get her buried at the Mount of Olives. A good documentary.

Although she had a screw loose, she had a good heart.

It would be a terrible life to be born into.

She must have been very intelligent, rare in royalty. She was very deaf and learned to lip read in three languages. What happened to her was not so unusual among the wealthy of the time. If someone was difficult, and she apparently spoke of an erotic relationship with Jesus, they could be locked away in a sanitorium no questions asked.
