Paddy is woeful thick, if, as you say elsewhere, he is prepared to re-elect FF because he is feeling the heat under FG.

See what I mean about the need to change the mindset?

The mindset is hardly likely to change when this is the risible choice available.

It is the mindset that created the choice. Generations of voters have weeded out all but the current model of politician. That's what the voters want so that's what the voters get.

We want politicians who will ignore planning laws for us. We want them to allow the businesses we approve of to pay no VAT while screwing the last cent out of those we don't like. We want politicians who will force the taxpayer to pay our mortgages.

SO there is no point in changing the system, no? No point seeking something better? The electorate is at fault for forcing the parties to be as bad as they are? The electorate is to blame for political corruption, not the parties who practice it?

    Fascinating insight!

Take a drunk driver out of a Mondeo and put him in a Merc and he's still a drunk driver.

You should ask those nice Swiss people whether the electorate is in any way responsible for the politicians they elect. The answer may surprise you.

Maybe I will ask them whether they want to change their system of government for something like the Irish one,

I very much doubt if the answer will surprise me.
