Default Guardian Hires Journalist Who Incited Murder of Gaza Flotilla Members

A pretty shocking choice of employee. People in the UK have been arrested for lesser online offences.

In a sad sign of its deterioration, The Guardian has hired a new contributor who openly called on the Israeli army to kill Americans sailing to Gaza, including Pulitzer prize-winning author Alice Walker and Kindertransport refugee Hedy Epstein.
In a statement on its website the newspaper says:
Today the Guardian announced the addition of Josh Treviño to their editorial team. Formerly of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Treviño will be the newest Correspondent for the Guardian’s growing US politics team through his column “On Politics & Persuasion” which launches on Monday, August 20.
“We are pleased to have Josh join the Guardian,” said Janine Gibson, editor-in-chief of the Guardian US. “He brings an important perspective our readers look for on issues concerning US politics,” added Gibson.
    Calls for murder

Apparently, one of those “perspectives” is that those who disagree with Treviño should be brutally murdered.
In June 2011, as several dozen Americans, including Walker and Epstein attempted to set sail from Greece to Gaza, to break Israel’s blockade along with boats from other countries, Treviño tweeted, “Dear IDF: If you end up shooting any Americans on the new Gaza flotilla – well, most Americans are cool with that. Including me.

You could say so, but in this case, it is pretty outrageous and says something about the Guardian.

The Pussy Riot thing, now don't get me started....

The Grauniad, with the likes of Shameless Milne editing CiF is regarded as being rabidly anti-Israel, if not in the case of Ben White actually anti-semitic. So I don't know what you mean by " it says something about the Guardian ". Find an article by Harriet Sherwood " our Jerusalem correspondent " that's actually about Israel and not about the West Bank or Gaza. The Guardian readership is slipping drastically, the digital online stuff isn't attracting viewers, so maybe this hire is their cack-handed attempt to provide " balance ".

Has Josh Treviño been demoted already?
If you look at the Guardian’s 15 August press release as it appears now it begins:

Today the Guardian announced the addition of Josh Treviño to its commentary team in the United States. Formerly of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Treviño will be the newest commentator for the Guardian’s growing US politics team through his column On Politics & Persuasion which launches on Monday 20 August.

But that is not what it said on 15 August, when I quoted it. Here is how it began then (emphasis added):

Today the Guardian announced the addition of Josh Treviño to their editorial team. Formerly of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Treviño will be the newest Correspondent for the Guardian’s growing US politics team through his column “On Politics & Persuasion” which launches on Monday, August 20

    His tweet

Dear IDF: If you end up shooting any Americans on the new Gaza flotilla – well, most Americans are cool with that. Including me.
His spin on the tweet now:

Any reading of my tweet of 25 June 2011 that holds that I applauded, encouraged, or welcomed the death of fellow human beings, is wrong, and out of step with my life and record ..
Well that is clearly just a big fat lie. So now the Guardian is hiring "journalists" who are prepared to brazenly tell porkies.

Josh Treviño and the Guardian part company:
The liberal British newspaper The Guardian recently drew criticism from its typical allies for signing up a founder of RedState.com and a down-the-line Israel supporter as a conservative columnist for its burgeoning U.S. online effort.
The columnist, Joshua Treviño, had however also done murky work for allies of the Malaysian government, and that appears to be what ended their relationship:

The "leftwing" Guardian, is a puppet of the military industrial complex. The Assange affair makes that very clear.

Its so easy to infiltrate and take over leftwing organisations, because so many leftwingers are too stupid to understand, or too greedy to do anything about it.

Sad, but there is an element of truth in that.

Although the Labour Party in Ireland and the U.K. has always actively purged any infiltration from the left.

And of course, right wing organisations have been infiltrated on many occasions, but in general the establishment doesn't see them as a threat.
