Default IRMS Leak - 24 hour Spying on / Surveillance of Rossport Solidarity Camp

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...321894220.html

A private "security" firm, IRMS (Integrated Risk Management Services) whose staff includes at least one senior ex Guard, leaked an email recently that revealed its detailed monitoring, surveillance, and information-sharing on the Rossport Solidarity camp. The camp is on private ground, with permission of the owner and is a base for protestors against the Shell on shore oil terminal and pipeline under construction nearby.

People from the camp are taking legal advice. T.J. MacIntyre of Digital Rights says that potentially this type of activity could be a criminal offence (harrassment) and that there are also data protection issues. The leaked email was circulated to at least 12 people including two former Senior Gardaí.

IRMS is known also as the Company from which a number of staff, including some at supervisory level who had worked at Rossport, who took part in the Rosza Flores terror group conspiracy against the Bolivian government.

The emailed communication involves a “situation report” documenting movements at the Rossport solidarity camp, compiled by Integrated Risk Management Services (I-RMS), the security company employed by Shell E&P Ireland and Corrib gas developers.

The report by “Aughoose Command and Control Centre” comprises a timeline of movements on June 29th, 2012, which was preceded by a summary of information given by security staff during a shift “change-over” at 7am on that day.

No names were recorded, but the report stated that 11 people were in the camp at that time (7am), and identified four vehicles parked on the roadside, describing these as “known” and giving their make.

It then recorded details of movements from 10.30am, beginning with “(1) cyclist left the camp in the Glengad direction”.

Details of movements were listed with times recorded at 11.03, 13.59, 15.30, 16.04, 16.17 and 16.54.

At another shift change-over at 18.45 on the same day, the report stated that there were five people in the camp and identified two vehicles parked on the roadside.

Six more movements between 19.09 and 23.00 were listed, and 12 people at the camp and four identified vehicles parked on the roadside were recorded at 7am.

The report provided headings for “known protesters [sic]” and “Known local protestors”, but these spaces were left blank.

It is understood that the report was inadvertently forwarded by a senior member of I-RMS management to a non-company email, following its circulation among a group of ten email addresses on June 30th last.

No surprise to me. The Gardaí and IRMS have operated hand-in-glove with extensive co-operation since IRMS showed up in 2008. Oftentimes IRMS have been exercising police powers on the public road, and IRMS video footage has often been used by the cops to prosecute anti-Shell activists. You often see cops being ordered about by Shell's mercs without any apparent loss of dignity on the part of the police so ordered, and the Gardaí routinely cover up and not acknowledge serial lawbreaking by Shell's violent arm, to the point of refusing to take complaints from locals and campers when IRMS operatives are seen breaking the law.
"It is we the workers who built these palaces and cities here in Spain and in America and everywhere. We, the workers, can build others to take their place. And better ones! We are not in the least afraid of ruins. We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts."

This kind of surveillance is often done by insurance companies on people who make claims about disability. Thats probably the only reason why its legal.

Im actually glad it is legal, because surveillance is a technique that can be used by journalists to keep tabs on corrupt politicians and civil servants.

Tendency to privatisation of state forces, worldwide.
