Default Springboard failing at 20% placement rate

I see yesterday that Springboard stated they are delighted with a placement rate to jobs of 20% .
This is simply not good enough .

The State is investing millions in these education programmes and if they can only reach a target of 20% it is very clear that they are running programmes that are not relevant to industry .
Even Community Employment Schemes had a placement rate of 30% and this was working with long term employed .

This new Quango Springboard should be looked at as all they are involved in is churning people through useless programmes to try and reduce the live register.

This is a legitimate complaint. There is evidence that employers can't fill posts as people don't have the right qualifications. Could Springboard not target specific upskilling needs to fill those gaps?

Thought that springboard were a 'quick fixes' to solve the employment numbers as they would come off the employment register but not seen as a permanent solution. Once the students had returned to unemployment as it would create a vicious circle all over again. TBH, there is little sight of real jobs which i mean permanent out there.

In my experience, there simply are not enough places for the huge no of applicants, esp. as some courses are more highly sought after than others. Also, there was an issue with finding to continue delivering training at some colleges.
It's actually not easy getting on a springboard course, unless the applicant has the right background to complete the course.

Some of the skills being offered are decent but the jobs out there are requiring a lot of experience and this is hard to come by. My brother did a post grad cert in computer programming but could only find a position on the jobs bridge programme and this was meant to be in programming. In place of programming he was answering phones and getting lunches, not what he was meant to be doing. Its a catch twenty two really, there is no jobs out there to get the experience so the employers perhaps have unrealistic expectations somewhat.
