In one of the more disturbing things you'll hear out of Russia regarding Pussy Riot, the bodies of two murdered women were found in the town of Kazan, with the words "Free Pussy Riot" scrawled out on the wall above them. Clearly, a double-murder is scary no matter what, but it's those words, "Free Pussy Riot," that are complicating things since no one really knows who's behind this horrific act. Did a Pussy Riot supporter really kill these women? Is the Russian government killing people to smear supporters of Pussy Riot?

Even before Russian police cracked the case it seemed fairly obvious that the words "Free Pussy Riot" scrawled across the wall at a double murder scene in Kazan were there as a diversion, not an actual political statement. And now that there's been an arrest in the killing of a mother and daughter, as The New York Times' Anna Kordunsky and David M. Herzenhorn report, that suspicion is confirmed. Of course supporters of the punk band members doing time for hooliganism didn't kill people to get their message out.

I mentioned Anna Polinetskaya and others on here before . Why was nothing much more heard about her? Her case is in need of more attention than it deserved but you know as well as I do this is all about freedom of speech and a whole lot more. A government should be afraid of its people and Putin has somewhat become uneasy with dissent. Marketing is crass mostly and any opportunity to make a quick buck is always open and embraced but Pussy Riot knew that they were taking a chance .

Ok, Kev, give me a detailed analysis of the "protest" Pussy Riot are making with specific reference to the concept of free speech in a pluralist democracy.

I know I will be waiting a long time for this and not through any analytical deficiencies on your part.
