Think I met Ames somewhere along the way.
But if I could do anything to help befuddled old geezers understand what the ...eh...angry youth are up to, I'm at your service Sam.
Would be most kind if you could do a bit of that hip crowd funding and get the site to fork out for a ticket.
<Mod>tear off yr "If Only" slogan and see if I can remember the steps to the Pogo.
I will do my 'born with a platinum spoon in my hole' best to discern the truth in the three chords.
Then I'll report back to you from the froxholes of the turbulent Russian soul and the frontlines of what you deem the geebags gulags.
And with a little light modding, we may reach the outskirts of authenticity without a Rough Guide or Lonely Planet between us.
Me and loads more me.
With the Lord behind me
Just keep my vanity in check, Comrade.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/globa...y-count/56369/In one of the more disturbing things you'll hear out of Russia regarding Pussy Riot, the bodies of two murdered women were found in the town of Kazan, with the words "Free Pussy Riot" scrawled out on the wall above them. Clearly, a double-murder is scary no matter what, but it's those words, "Free Pussy Riot," that are complicating things since no one really knows who's behind this horrific act. Did a Pussy Riot supporter really kill these women? Is the Russian government killing people to smear supporters of Pussy Riot?
Well, as The Guardian's Miriam Elder reports, people are saying both.
As a general rule the most successful man in life is the man who has the best information. Benjamin Disraeli
Secrecy is for losers. For people who do not know how important the information really is.

Very effective Manson-esque way of rattling support from the supposed lovlies.
Well, that’s that.
http://www.theatlanticwire.com/globa...-russia/56435/Even before Russian police cracked the case it seemed fairly obvious that the words "Free Pussy Riot" scrawled across the wall at a double murder scene in Kazan were there as a diversion, not an actual political statement. And now that there's been an arrest in the killing of a mother and daughter, as The New York Times' Anna Kordunsky and David M. Herzenhorn report, that suspicion is confirmed. Of course supporters of the punk band members doing time for hooliganism didn't kill people to get their message out.

"Putin asked his interviewer if he knew what the band's name meant. 'There is no need to pretend that you don't know. It's indecent,' he said.
He claimed the repression suffered by the church in Soviet times meant it had to be respected now.
But he denied behind the scenes pressure to send the women to jail, despite suspicions of this among the opposition and in the West.
'I know what is going on with Pussy Riot, but I am staying out of it completely', he said".
Putin is being populist, moralist, anti-Western, showing leadership and telling downright lies in the space of a couple of sentences, truth is he could not give a fup about the individuals involved, its a challenge to his position and has been put down with an iron fist, these girls are on their way to a living hell and will be lucky to survive.
+1
Its two fingers to the freedoms that we all fight for and want and that we talk about so openly on here yet because of Putins stance on some Western ideals he is wrongly lauded as some sort of hero. Laech Walensa, the former president of Poland has even written to Putin to ask him for the bands release. Meanwhile Pussy Riot have wrongly or rightly produced a short video for MTV ahead of the MTV awards in a few days.

Just a reminder, but the thread is on Ames, not on Sam Lord or any other poster.*
*Ball not man rule
Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian security officer who has died in a London hospital after apparently being poisoned, was a fierce critic of Russia's government.
Those members of Pussy Riot who have left Russia would do well to remember the fate of the above.

Talentless group with English language name make pointless protest offending millions of Russian Orthodox believers in Russian Orthodox cathedral shouting inanities about Putin???
This drivel is about free speech??? Bollocks, it is a crass marketing ruse to promote a nonsense punk outfit.
Anna Polinetskaya, that was about free speech, her fate was central to free speech in Russia and if people want to have a go at Putin on the free speech issue, let them take up Anna Polinetskayas case.
Pussy Riot is just bullcrap!

I mentioned Anna Polinetskaya and others on here before . Why was nothing much more heard about her? Her case is in need of more attention than it deserved but you know as well as I do this is all about freedom of speech and a whole lot more. A government should be afraid of its people and Putin has somewhat become uneasy with dissent. Marketing is crass mostly and any opportunity to make a quick buck is always open and embraced but Pussy Riot knew that they were taking a chance .

Ok, Kev, give me a detailed analysis of the "protest" Pussy Riot are making with specific reference to the concept of free speech in a pluralist democracy.
I know I will be waiting a long time for this and not through any analytical deficiencies on your part.
It is because there is nothing to analyse. So I will expect an explanation about why Russia is not a pluralist democracy.instead, eh?
