Default Failing upwards: Harney appointed to board of health company

Harney was suc a success in the Department of Health, somebody got in quick and appointed her to the board of a health company to utilise those skills and unique insights.

Clearly a taxpayer funded pension of 130,000 a year needs bolstering and hubby came in handy getting another jolly for her.

    From the Sindo article:

Cara is a new health technology firm developing services for chronic disease suffers. It was started by boffins from Trinity's computer science school and "international thought leaders within primary healthcare", its website says.

Ward Biotech is an animal health research spinout from University College Dublin.

She is also enjoying the speaking engagement circuit. She said: "I spoke at a recent surgeons' conference in New York on my experience as a health minister and in Berlin on the Irish pharma sector."

Board opportunities also beckon. "People like a mix on a board and women are viewed as bringing particular benefits."

In April, Ms Harney joined the board of car fleet insurer Euro Insurances, an Irish subsidiary of Dutch insurance giant Leaseplan, where her husband Brian Geoghegan is believed to be involved. Finance adviser IFG's boss Gary Owens is fellow director.

Is she being appointed because she is a woman or because she occupied the health portfolio in the worst government in irish history?

A greedy woman who can see no reason to keep her snout out of the trough.

The good news seems to be that the government are returning healthcare to the dept of health.

Reilly might prefer a second appearance in Stubb's to a pat on the back from his bungling predecessor.

"I think things are going in the right direction and that James Reilly is doing a good job"

There is a whole pack of leeches looking to set up vehicles under the private health umbrella in order to charge exorbitant fees to national health budgets around Europe. It is essentially a drive to install the US health provision market and a noteable coterie of 'wealth creators' are circling that market in order to be able to feed off the early profits available as Ministers sign up to apparent good deals for taxpayers only to find out that the sting in the tail will be similar to the privatisation of railway infrastructures- there will be a plethora of 'commercial partners' all of whom will be collecting from the health budgets and none of whom will be responsible for anything that goes wrong.

'That would be a matter for the HSE' Harney and her itinerant mooing after money plus the likes of her husband are professional leeches looking to attach themselves to health budgets- she did so for years and isn't tired of it yet.

These people see people who need health treatment or intervention as a business opportunity and beyond that as taxpaying cattle.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

I do wonder, how Harney would answer typical interview questions like "How do you rate your success as Health Minister?" and " Name five weakness and five strengths" or "What was your biggest achievement during your term as Health Minister?" or "Why did you leave?"
But maybe much sought after bright sparks don't do interviews...

Now somebody who could get herself and Nell McCafferty in a studio together could add to the gaiety of the nation

That would depend possibly on the extent of the pre "on air" hospitality and the length of time each protagonist was enjoying it.
