Can a child be Jewish ... or Muslim, or Catholic for that matter?

Jewish and Muslim groups are claiming that circumcision is an age-old ritual integral to their faith ... yet it is children who are inflicted! Why not delay circumcision until a person has formed their own mind and is an adult?
