According to the Daily Mail, the husband still clung to the men's guilt when even the Mail was reveling In Birmingham Six/Guilford 4 analogies.
One particularly interesting piece by the Mail was their printing of the resume/employment records of the two.
They did not paint a pic of your average murderers.
Lost in the trial coverage hysteria was the fact that in early tabloid coverage- which normally dines out on the innocent whites being subject to inscrutable oriental abuse-
there were constant sidebars on the confessions etc.
Even red tops seem obliged to devote a meta message of potential innocence - a message that ran counter to their own sales driven tales of foreign horror.
That to me screamed there was something rotten in dodge from a very early stage.
I gave up watching the case after that and was the very surprised to see how that trope seemed to have been lost in the subsequent trial coverage.
And now we apparently have Enda Kenny about to declare war on Mauritius because of a tiny new red top rag that got out of hand.
There is an increasingly racially prejudiced tone to some of the commentary on this whole affair, that Kenny seems eager to run with.
Distraction from the budget ?
The Mauritian authorities continue to make the worst possible choice any time they act in this case.

My arresting this sleaze ball they risk turning him into an international martyr.
Martin McGuinness made some disgraceful comments about this case today. He went so far as to call the jury verdict 'perverse' and he wants to see the men dragged before another trial.
We sure made the right decision in rejecting his bid for the presidency.

He has a hard neck. Without the bullish nature of the cleared men's defence team throughout the trial, the result would have been a miscarriage of justice and two innocent guys would have been consigned to rot in jail.
There seems to be a need for the blood of these guys to be shed from McGuinness and RTE. RTE did invest a few lorry loads of citizen's money covering this case ,,, scrub that ,,,, covering some aspects of this case, particularly those parts the Mauritian police and prosecutors fed them. Stories concerning the defence team (and their quite legitimate tactics) were condemnatory to a large extent.
Give me a misty day, pearly gray, silver, silky faced, wide-awake crescent-shaped smile
Who listens to McGuinness everyone knows what he is. The good news is that the Gards and the PSNI may go to Mauritious to see if anything can be salvaged from the wreck of an investigation.
Shock horror story in the Sindo today - Rosanna Davidson has 'ignored the boycott' of Mauritius.
This country is truly doomed if fashion models are ignoring the demands of ranting tweeters and make-weight MEPs.
