It seems clear now that if shots were fired they weren't fired into the car. No sign of shotgun cartridges or wadding on the scene either according to the Mail.
There wouldn't be wadding cartridge casings if a revolver was used, or perhaps a rifle fired from a vehicle such that ejected cartridges were retained.

    That's true.
According to the Indo today the Gardai now think that it was a botched robbery and the lads in the Audi knew he had 20k in cash in the boot. They're trying to figure out how these characters would have know that though.
Meanwhile Killally's father Jay is claiming that there wasn't any money in the boot at all.
    Murkier its getting

RTE Drama should be sharpening their pencils around now and looking for actors for the Midlands version of Love/Hate. Could be Pat Shortt's finest moment.

I think Killaly's patriotism deserves credit.

The man clearly recognises himself as a key contributor to the future of the Irish State. Knowing this, he was willing to sacrifice 20K, 2 kids and his Da in order to save himself.

I shed a tear at his patriotism.

Looks like Ger is in the second hand car business these days.
SHAMED excouncillor Ger Killally was targeted by an armed gang after t h e y learned he had recently sold a car over the internet, gardai believe. Bankrupt Killally (42), had been making a few "extra quid" buying and selling cars from his palatial home in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, in recent months. He had been involved in a number of cash deals with buyers he got in contact with on through a car dealers' site.Gardai are now investigating if the masked raiders had received a tip-off that the former millionaire had recently sold a car for a five-figure sum.

Biz Post says that NAMA has repossessed various Killally properties..
AIB, acting upon the instructions of Nama, has appointed receivers to a number of property partnerships and assets connected to Killally, including the so-called Edenderry partnership and Tullamore partnership. The appointments were made in recent days.
Declan Taite and Sharon Barrett, accountants with RSM Farrell Grant Sparks, have been installed as receiver over a number of residential investments in Edenderry, Co Offaly, as well as several industrial units on the outskirts of the midlands town. Land in Tullamore and Edenderry has also been seized.

More collateral damage. Doesn't sound like this lad has a leg to stand on...
A BUSINESSMAN who permitted some €346,000 to be withdrawn from his bank to help bankrupt accountant and former Fianna Fail councillor Gerard Killally is suing AIB. Joseph Delaney, Carbury, Co Kildare, has alleged AIB breached a duty of care of him in an affidavit.
He said Mr Killally was his accountant over a period of years and when he asked him for financial help in August 2008, Mr Delaney had in good faith agreed. In September 2008, staff at AIB had queried a withdrawal of monies from accounts of himself and his wife in favour of Mr Killally and, when he (Delaney) asked about this, Mr Killally had denied there was anything wrong.
Mr Delaney said Mr Killaly had also offered to give him a lease over a premises in Edenderry and that lease was later signed by him.
He had later learned that, when bank drafts from his and his wife's AIB accounts were signed in favour of Mr Killally, the monies would be almost immediately lodged to Mr Killally's accounts with AIB, Mr Delaney said.
Only when the accounts were almost empty had AIB enquired about the nature of the withdrawal of the funds, he claimed.
He had later attempted to set up a business in the Edenderry premises leased to him by Mr Killally on which his loan to Mr Killally was secured but AIB told him he had to leave that premises.

People's patience with Killally has to have run out by now, only a matter of time before a few get together and deliver the blow that will put him inside for a long time, they must still fear Biffo down there.
