It seems clear now that if shots were fired they weren't fired into the car. No sign of shotgun cartridges or wadding on the scene either according to the Mail.
There wouldn't be wadding cartridge casings if a revolver was used, or perhaps a rifle fired from a vehicle such that ejected cartridges were retained.

    That's true.
According to the Indo today the Gardai now think that it was a botched robbery and the lads in the Audi knew he had 20k in cash in the boot. They're trying to figure out how these characters would have know that though.
Meanwhile Killally's father Jay is claiming that there wasn't any money in the boot at all.
    Murkier its getting

RTE Drama should be sharpening their pencils around now and looking for actors for the Midlands version of Love/Hate. Could be Pat Shortt's finest moment.

I think Killaly's patriotism deserves credit.

The man clearly recognises himself as a key contributor to the future of the Irish State. Knowing this, he was willing to sacrifice 20K, 2 kids and his Da in order to save himself.

I shed a tear at his patriotism.

Looks like Ger is in the second hand car business these days.
SHAMED excouncillor Ger Killally was targeted by an armed gang after t h e y learned he had recently sold a car over the internet, gardai believe. Bankrupt Killally (42), had been making a few "extra quid" buying and selling cars from his palatial home in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, in recent months. He had been involved in a number of cash deals with buyers he got in contact with on through a car dealers' site.Gardai are now investigating if the masked raiders had received a tip-off that the former millionaire had recently sold a car for a five-figure sum.

Time for Ger's 3 year suspended sentence to be recinded.
