FF's would be ahead of SFs in the Dáil but only the Dr himself could claim the scalp in the end

That's the usual form with these things. Parliamentary process to ensure that the Dail never debates a motion of no confidence in the government or one of its members.

Shockingly I would half agree with him but only because the current parties out there are no better than what we have at the moment. The ULA are inconsistent, Shinners telling everyone populist ****** and FF are slowly dying a death thank goodness. If we can get a new party or the ULA to get their act together we may have a future but for the mean time anyone we get is going to be as bad. Meanwhile the journal reporting that the vote could take place next few weeks

If the government opts to do so, the vote would likely be taken in government time at some point during the Dáil’s first week back from recess. The house is currently scheduled to reconvene two weeks from tomorrow.

People with disabilities to protest on Cuts to Independent Living Supports, ahead of Cabinet meeting

Disabled people are travelling to protest outside Government Buildings on Tuesday 4th September -coinciding with a meeting of the Cabinet - to launch a campaign to bring an end to the appalling cuts to Personal Assistance and Home Help Services.

On Tuesday 4th September from 12:00 pm – People with disabilities, their PAs, Home Helps and families will protest against the disgraceful, retrograde and inhumane cuts to these frontline services for as long as it takes to abandon this decision.

Disabled people involved in this campaign have said:

‘’These cuts are illogical, and counter to Government policy. These Cuts make no economic sense and will increase costs to the exchequer and will deny people basic fundamental rights to live with dignity and choice.’’

    Joan is on Newstalk now.

Newstalk: "Do you have full confidence in James Reilly"

Joan: "Every Minister in the Government HAS to have full confidence in every other Minister"

    Nice sidestep Joan

Reilly has been joined in Stubbs by one of his FG colleagues. Michael Hegarty, the FG leader on Cork County Council owes the Revenue almost €82k.

The Mail story on Reilly today says that Anne Marie Panton, owner of the Suirmount nursing home, claims that she was at a disadvantage when competing with Reilly's Greenhill home and that the minister had a conflict of interest. Her Suirmount home closed in March 2012 after HIQA refused to allow new admissions in July 2011. She claims that HIQA 'kept moving the goalposts' even after 100k had been spent on renovations.
Clr Margaret Croke contacted Enda Kenny's office on the matter and Enda wrote to O'Reilly:
    Dear James
I enclose correspondence which I have received from Clr Croke, regarding the closure of Suirmount Nursing Home.
I would be grateful if you could have the matter examined and perhaps you could reply directly to Clr Croke
And there the story stops because there is no reply from Reilly.
The Mail asks if Reilly made it clear that he had a direct financial interest in the issue and whether he removed himself from the discussion on the case.

More on Reilly's crashed Swords health centre project:
HEALTH Minister James Reilly has been forced to sell off an estimated €5m site he bought at the height of the property boom for the knockdown price of €750,000, the Sunday Independent can reveal.

The indebted minister put the 1.3-acre site beside the Airside Retail Park in Swords, Co Dublin, on sale -- just a month before he was named in Stubbs Gazette -- after his plans to develop a HSE Primary Care Centre on the land fell through.

He bought the land in Nevinstown with two other doctors in 2007 and will only be entitled to one-third of the sale income, or €250,000, if the site sells at 85 per cent less than its Celtic Tiger value.

Just a note . I came across some minutes of a meeting of Carrick on Suir Town Council

    http://www.carrickonsuir.ie/CouncilM...ing%202012.pdf

    Page 8
Cllr Margaret Croke said that she had previously had a motion before the Council regarding the operation of HIQA
and it had now come to pass that a nursing in the Town was closing on foot of a report by that organisation. She
indicated that while HIQA had not closed the nursing home directly, it had done so by stealth by depriving it of access
to funding. Since June the nursing home had been prevented from taking in new patients and this had prevented it
from raising the finance necessary to carry out works recommended by HIQA. She said that this was a very
distressing time for the residents of the home and their families and also for the workers. In her opinion the nursing
home was a very good care facility and the Council should support it in whatever way it could.
Cllr Patsy Fitzgerald said that he had read the report regarding the Suirmount Nursing home. He felt that it was a
very thorough report and it had set out clearly the measures necessary to keep the facility open.
Cllr Sylvia Cooney-Sheehan said that she agreed with Cllr Margaret Croke. In particular she felt that the lack of an
appeals process to HIQA was very unfair and the only recourse to challenging a report was through the courts and
this could be extremely expensive. She requested that a repeal process would be instigated immediately.
It was agreed to send the letter as requested in the motion
