Perfect, especially for how he brought both sides of the community together....when he threatened to have Denis Taylor shot!

This morning's IT has a call for Con Houlihan to get in on the act.

Each announcement of a celebrity death now comes with a knee-jerk demand for the new bridge to bear the name of the lamented. Maybe we should just call it the 'Recently Deceased' bridge.

Amazingly, there's no call in today's IT to call it the Katie Taylor Bridge.

Fortunately, she is very much alive. The usual practice is to name such things after deceased individuals.

    Usual but not invariable.

I'm certainly not advocating it but I'm surprised that the "She's brillant Joe, a grey role moddle for de yute" set aren't on the case.

She seems to be a very level-headed woman and probably would not want it herself.

At the top levels of any type of competitive activity, the level headed people are usually found in the spectators seats.

The obsessive drive needed to make it to the very top filters out those who live balanced lives.

No doubt it is difficult to lead a balanced life at the very top of international sport.

In the case of Katie Taylor, she appears to have a very solid family life to keep her grounded in reality.

And on cue this morning's IT has 3 letters looking for the bridge to be named for Taylor.

Why not call it The Bowllix Bridge? There's been many a Bowllix in Dublin and elsewhere in Ireland and so far they have only been honoured with a chair in the Senate. CF, if you don't stop trying to taliban Irish colloquialisms out of existence I am putting you down on my List alongside certain Fianna Failers and just above Flatley.

Naming it the De Valera Bridge is out of the question as it's neither long enough nor crooked enough.

There is a case for naming it to honour Ernest Walton HERE

Like the bulk of the Irish team the writer is way too slow. 3 others beat him to it 2 days ago.
