    Default Constituency Boundaries

Much rumour and speculation in the local papers concerning the future make up of Dáil constituencies over the past few months. Here, Galway West is to lose a seat and Oranmore ( Healy Eames likely to be inflicted on in East) and gain a chunk of South Mayo.

Old thread on GE11 boundaries here and a wealth of other bits can be found over on Irish Political Maps including this useful one mapping the cabinet.

The five-person commission is chaired by High Court judge Mr Justice John Cook. The other four members are the clerk of the Dáil, Kieran Coughlan, the clerk of the Seanad, Deirdre Lane, the Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly, and the secretary general of the Department of the Environment, Geraldine Tallon but just in case we forgot who is in charge we had this in Dáil last week

Constituency Commission Report out tomorrow 10 am. Meanwhile Shane McEntee let it slip today that we're looking at a 158-seat Dail

Wasn't a reduction in the terms of reference?

    Dont think so,
The TDs were gasping at it today though that doesn't mean it wasn't already widely known of course

"The Taoiseach's own constituency of Mayo would be reduced from a five- to a four-seater."

There's a clue in there as to why Mad Mish keeps running off at the mouth about scruffy TDs and fornicators.

Laois/Offaly to be broken up. This constituency remained unchanged from the foundation of the state until 2011 when a chunk of South Offaly was hived off to Tipp North.

The new 3 seat Laois constituency will contain all of Co. Laois and a chunk of West Kildare that has Monasterevin as the largest town.

Laois has 3 TDs in the current Dail - Charlie Flanagan FG, Sean Fleming FF and Brian Stanley SF.

The New 3 seat Offaly constituency sees Co. Offaly recovering the lost ground from 2011 and gaining part of North Tipp.

There are two sitting TDs from Offaly at present - Marcella Corcoran-Kennedy FG and Barry Cowen FF.

I'm happy for once .... Dublin South Central.... down from 5 to 4 ..... Terenure and Kimmage cut off and going to Dublin South East (Dublin Bay South).

This leaves The Liberties, Ballyfermot Inchicore, Drimnagh and Crumlin together meaning we could have 4 left-wing TDs elected next time out.

Most affected Eric Byrne TD .... will have to go in with Ruairi Quinn TD and Kevin Humpreys TD. Somehow I can't see Labour winning 3 out of 4 in Dublin Bay South next time out.

    Michael Ring very unhappy.

It's 'not democratic' to put part of Mayo into Galway apparently. He concedes that FG will drop a seat there next time.

Dublin is doing well out of the new boundaries. At present the capital has 43 of 166 seats (25.9%) but with the revised boundaries it will have 44 of 158 seats (27.85%).

Thanks Ann, I'm Eilín Magner and this is Dún na nGall.

Hello and welcome to a desolate barnsmore gap. A stark seen that reminds us of the stark reality up here in the cold and bitter north west. Some say the little folk live in these mountains, other say we should just have sold the fekking place when we had the chance.

Donegal people are wild and fierce, they habitually vote no to everything and have now become a Sinn Féin stronghold, the no no no party. No suprise there then, but Im not here to talk about the wee people, but electoral boundaries. So will they vote no even more with these changes, the answer I cannot tell you, until the next referendum anyway. But what will the wee folk vote in their new big unified constituency (except bundoran baile sionnan, etc)

Yes, you know it, they will vote NO and No and quite possibly another NO, yes god fearing southerners, they will have three big NO Shinners to represent them next time out. With only a single large farmer (not enough up in this rough craggy and fierce place) and only one wee gombeen to go along with him (yes, the wee folk are very angry up here).

So Ann, back to you from the back ass of nowhere.

Thanks Eilín, (muffled voice in the background) (fekin exile up in this shxxhole, baxterdin rte cxxxs, fekin collins shouldve just gave the place to the fuppin orangies. drink, fek.......
