I backed Italy at 12/1 because my daughter asked me not to back England. I don't really mind who wins but the last two performances from Italy have been magnificient. Money or no money, my heart is with them although my head says Spain.

Only a tenner, I like to have a small bet to keep me interested when our own boys are gone home.

We could say we were beaten by both finalists in the hardest group, but the truth is we didn't turn up for the first two games. The Italian game was about our true level at the moment. Kick a few of the old farts out and we'll be back on track.
