I like to see Trap leave and FAI would start search for new manager... ideally

Trap is conservative by nature as he doesn't go for big changes though. Hence predictable team selection along with no plan B.

Dunphy was correct re Trap tend to pick players who doesn't question him nor disregard his orders. Stephen Reid, Mc Carthy, Andy Reid disagreed with him in public. As a consequence of this, Trap refuse to select them and therefore drop them out of sight nor don't want to hear them.

Trap doesn't like being questioned however he is not above criticism. His results in euro 2012 demands to be probed and questioned. At one stage he blamed the players .what a cop out.. (which indicates his thinking that he may have no respect for players) It was his unchangeable tactics and inflexibility along with no new fresh blood re players brought Ireland down.

One telling comment came from Given's dad was that Croatia players were all big physical players as Trap opted for smaller players.

He thinks the Irish management team picked the wrong team for previous disastrous game against Croatia.

His comments:“The team was not right for the occasion. It’s horses for courses. There should have been a couple on from the start and a couple left out.

“The eleven players that were put out, and this is no disrespect to Doyle or Keane, were simply not physically strong enough.

“We needed a couple of strong players up front. The Croatians are a big side and there were 7 of 8 of them which were head and shoulders above most of our guys,” he said.

The laziness shown by him in just throwing out the same team for the Italy game astounded me. Given in all fairness to him I gathered was not used to the ball as its a lot lighter than other balls used in previous tournaments but still he was not great . Robbie Keane was hugging the penalty box as per usual, Richard Dunne gave a sterling performance and Duff looked like a boy looking for his lost puppy. Two are retiring, Im gonna say Given and Duff and we should force Keano out of the squad. We need a new generation of players pretty much in line with the squads posted earlier one with Houlihan, Fahey, St ledger, Andy Reid and the prodigal son of Irish soccer "Stephen Ireland". We also need to look at the Airtricity League also .

England tonight were pure ***** as per usual. Rooney scored a crap goal because of defensive errors and Ukraine should have thrashed them. Sweden played well tonight in a game they knew they didnt bother have to putting an effort into and they did!

Im backing Greece and supporting Spain. Have a few Spanish mates so have been getting involved in the Spanish matches!

Well said. Thanks fluffy re new ball which i didn't know about it because it puzzled me re Givens performance to date. Think Westwood should have taken his place re quick reflexes etc.

As usual, Dunne gave his sterling performance as he was superb especially the russian game which i thought it even surpassed Mc Grath's performance v Italy.

Keane was clearly unfit and shouldn't have been picked. If i were trap, i would drop him and force him into retirement. He have no intention of doing so re his recent comment.

Yes we need a tonic re new generation but NOT with trap. Need such a fresher approach and thinking would require a fresh start in Ireland letting go Trap as O Brien can pay him off handsomely.

I thought England were lucky but wasn't impressed with their performance. Linesman blind re Ukraine whose goal should have been awarded. Video ref is paramount than linesman as today's game of England v Ukraine is the evidence of that.

Interesting match would be Greece v Germany. i bet Greek would want to beat them dearly cos of Merkel and the economic turmoil in their home country.

Will be looking the odds tomorrow re Greek beat Germany as i would take that chance.

Know what ds, you are going to laugh at this but we should offer the job to Liam Brady! He has been managing the youth squads at Arsenal for years with great success and is knowledgeable in the area of youth football. Perhaps him and then hire a top class assistant. Brady knows defensive football from his time in Italy but also the attacking creative culture of Arsenal.

    Back Greece, Im gonna!

What odds re Ouzo Greece beating herr Germans?

Brady was class when he was a player but coaching not his forte i guess. Being a Celtic fan, heard stories about him then a manager that time which didn't work out for him sadly.

Germany to beat Greece 2-0 minimum. Sorry, guys, but the head is ruling the heart here.

Waiting patiently for van Maarwijk to be fired.

Wes Hoolahan is hardly new generation, fluffy, it is just that he has been criminally ignored for so long. Pilkington, Tierney, Wilson, McCarthy, Gibson, Stokes and even Ireland should all be in the set-up. I will be watching Trappatoni to see if he is even capable of change but the signs are bad.

To put Paul Green on against Spain when Wes Hoolahan was not even in the squad is nothing short of a thundering disgrace!!!!!!

Our national sporting sides proudly represent us all over the world and fly our national flag with honour wherever they go. The tricolour deserves better than to have the slogan ‘Pints, Tits, Ireland’ scrawled across it and hung proudly and prominently in a bar as fans gathered before the Spanish encounter in Gdansk.
