Default British Local Election Results Map - 2012 - A Drubbing for the Tories

The French and Greek elections have been getting far more attention here, but the British local elections have shown the amount of anger at "austerity" and the right, across Europe.

A good summary in map and chart form of the results.

Terrible day for the Tories, good for Labour, good for the SNP, bad for Plaid Cymru.

Projected vote share: Labour 38%, Conservatives 31%, Lib Dems 16%, others 15%

Labour have gained 823 councillors seats, the Conservatives have lost 405 and the Lib Dems 336

The Conservatives are nine points down on 2008, Labour are up 16 points and the Lib Dems down eight points

Turnout is projected at 32% - the lowest in English local elections since 2000
    Reaction from the Party leaders.

Galloway was happy. Five seats went to Respect.
