Default ESB Powergrid in the UK

Kitty O Shea asked me to post this on her behalf

Apparently, ESB plan to build a GBP750m 1,500-megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant in Britain which could start operating in 2018. The plant will be built on a former chemical works site at Knottingley near Leeds. Around 1,100 workers will be employed during construction and create up 50 permanent jobs once operational.

Why is it not being built in Ireland?

It would cost too much to get cables to the target market.

ESB is catering for the job needs of Irish emigrants in the UK.

I wonder if it has something to do with a reliable supply of gas.
Thing is, we are probably going to be accessing the supply anyway.

It's just a commercial project to generate revenue for the ESB. They already have similar investments in the UK, Spain and Pakistan.

    Who cares?

"You are right" after one of my posts is so rare as to merit national heritage protection.
