We are borrowing to pay this, and so long as the current system lasts, it's a debt that we and future generations will be forced to pay.

Bloomberg has provided a list of the holders of the 1.5 billion, unsecured, unguaranteed, bond that was paid by AIB yesterday:

Schoellerbank - Austrian Bank
Diethniki Mutual - Greek Fund Management
ING - Dutch Banking/Financial Services
Landesbank Berlin - German Bank
Guipuzocoana - not sure what this is. The only thing google is throwing up is a basque company which plundered Venezuela in the 18th century.
Banco Espirito Santo - Portuguese Bank
Lombard Odier - Swiss Bank
Union Investment - German Investment Group
CB-Accent - Luxembourg Investment Company
Sopaf Capital - Italian Investment Company
Danske - Danish Bank
Scottish Widows - Scottish life, pensions and investment company (a subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group.)
Invercaixa - Spanish Investment Company
Fidelit - I'm assuming this to be Fidelity, a Canadian Investment company
UBS - Swiss Global investment banking/financial services
MG Gesto - ??
Finvalor - Spanish Investment company
Threadneedle - UK investment company
Julius Baer - Swiss bank

This bond was trading at under 75 cents in the Euro early in 2011 so those who bought in then have not only have taken no "haircut" but have actually (apart from their interest) made a neat profit at the expense of the Irish taxpayer. For doing exactly what I wonder other than investing in a bust Irish Bank.

My first question is how many politicians and their mates here and elsewhere, especially here, have money or investments in these banks? My second would be what's with Bloomberg lately being all pro Irish on debt write down/ending of austerity advice and now being the only ones to put this list out there?

It says volumes about the quality of the Members of our National Parliament. If the quality was any lower it would be subterranean.
