Don't forget pater, Maurice Crowley, late of AIB and (probably) many other boardrooms...
"It is we the workers who built these palaces and cities here in Spain and in America and everywhere. We, the workers, can build others to take their place. And better ones! We are not in the least afraid of ruins. We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts."

Mr. Crowley could be a temporary appointment, until one side or the other wins. It's telling that there was enough opposition to the O'Reillys in the INM boardroom to force Gavin O'Reilly's resignation. It's still not clear who will win out yet, though.

Prime Time discussing the "concentration of the media" in Ireland.

    Radio -

Communicor - O'Brien's company, owning Today FM and Newstalk and parts of 5 regional stations.

Adding on INM Press titles, this is an extraordinary conglommerate, according to Prime Time atypical in Europe.

Rabbitte waffling about his famous media ownership bill again. We've been listening to this for over a year now
Mr Rabbitte said the departure of Mr O'Reilly represented “the end of an era” for the business and for the sector.

He told The Irish Times that it was not the Government’s task to become involved in boardroom conflicts.

However, the Minister said the Government was very concerned about the concentration of ownership in the sector.

On the prospect of Mr O’Brien assuming control of IN&M, Mr Rabbitte said his department would soon publish legislation covering competition and media ownership and he did not want to enter the process with any “preconceived conclusions” regarding Mr O'Brien's position.

Nevertheless, he said the Government must be enabled to respond to what he described as the “undue concentration of ownership”, especially, where there may be cross-media ownership.

Another thing to bear in mind is the power that O'Brien will have over govt. decisions now that he controls Ireland's second paper. O'Brien has zero interest in the welfare of this State. Profit is his bottom line.

I have no idea of why O Reilly decided to go? However in the last couple of weeks his firm Providence resources oil have been doing well re small oil find in Cork.

His directorship haven't been great in the last couple of years as his father was losing load of millions of investment monies in most companies that he had invested in such as Waterford wedgewood, Cork Multi channel (when Ray Burke was a minister at that time as he approved his application),other failed ventures.

Perhaps it's time to get out who knows?
